Professional golfer Hal Sutton was a known regular at Lil Joes Tavern not just for the famous burgers they were known for, he was also a fan and supporter of a few local bands that often played in the jointing institution attendee style bar next door which had emerged as the city of Shreveport's then underground music hub for heavy metal, death metal(there is a difference) and grunge as garage bands near and far came to be herd. Among those bands SkinTrade aka Tone Def would prove to be a favorite standout act as shred battles were a regular occurrence and hardly ever planned there. Other genders of music were not warmly greeted, still it remained one of the hottest tickets nightly on Kings Highway's stretch of nights spots some now call the city's last authentic nightlife party seen. It was also well known that even though many African Americans ate at the restaurant, they were not welcomed and rarely went to the bar side and rap music was almost strictly forbidden. That would all change the evening Larry Crow guitar player of the band SkinTrade arrived for a sound check and parked nest to hip-hop Recording Artist Ravin-Delmain whom recently had moved into the Highland neighborhood and strangely enough had a history with metal music. In just weeks an empty Tuesday night that none would dare book a live gig on would turn into the city's hip hop hub with often packed turnouts. There would also be collaboration shows with popular bands such as Dirt Foot, Novembers End, Optomos Prim and all girls band Disharmony and a slew of fellow local rappers. Some shows of which can be found on youtube.
Ravin-Delmain aka Dolla Tha Ravin whose birth name is Delmaine Samuel first gained national attention in 1996 as as a member of Baton Rouge La. based controversial rap group The Concentration Camp of which also produced platinum rappers such as Young Bleed then latter rapper Lil Boosie and Multi Platinum producer
Nathan Perez aka Happy who currently produces for artist such as Lady GaGa and Migel to name a few. In 2006 Ravin-Delmain again appeared on the national radar when he was selected alone with Grammy Nominee Nashville Recording Artist
James Otto by Hollywood film director Scott Ziehl to compose a soundtrack for MGM/Sony Pictures film Roadhouse2 a sequel of Patrick Swayze's cult classic film Roadhouse. The $7.6 million dollar budget sequel stars actors Will Patton, Jonathan Scheach, Jake Busey and Marcia Quin also features appearance by composers Otto and Samuel as well.
